Mr. Fincher grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee helping his World War II combat veteran father run a farm.

After many summers of hauling hay and chopping tobacco he went to the University of Tennessee on a full academic scholarship and then to Harvard law school.

Cold northern Winters made him yearn for home and he returned here 30 years ago to practice law in his hometown after a brief stint in Nashville.

Mr. Fincher is a trial lawyer and has committed his entire career to defending the rights of people in and out of court.
